The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Department, partners with
the local district schools each year to collect canned and dry foods
to make Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for Pueblo West
Family names are given to the Parks office by the schools. If you are
in need of a basket, you will need to contact the school counselor where
your child attends and talk with them to get on our list. Only families in
Pueblo West are eligible to receive a food basket.
Names are supplied by the school counselors and then baskets are
made up from the food drives the schools have for both seasons. At
Christmas time, the high school has a "new toy" drive and then other
local organizations plan a wrapping day and wrap all the gifts for the
children in the families.
To support those in need, many Pueblo West
residents and local businesses donate the
Hams and turkeys
hat & gloves
Baby food & diapers (if needed for young families)
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation office will
be accepting 2019 donations between the hours of
8 am to 2 pm for the following items:
Food donations for the Thanksgiving baskets from November 4-8
New toy donations and Food donations from December 9-13
Mid-November, an "Angel Christmas" tree will be
at the Water Dept. office, (20 Palmer Lake). Those who would like to help a family in need, can pick a tag or two and shop for Christmas presents for the gender and age on the card....a very worthwhile, and rewarding project, knowing those children will have presents to open on Christmas Day!
If you would like to help out with a donation, or need more information,
