There have been reports of voters under the age of 18 being sent ballots for the 2023 Board of Directors election. This is because a list of registered voters received from the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder's Office on March 2, 2023 inadvertently included 16- and 17-year-olds who had pre-registered to vote but are not eligible to vote until they are 18 years of age. This list was updated and subsequently sent to the Metro District on April 20, 2023.
CRS has always had election safeguards have always been in place to ensure ineligible votes would not be counted. As ballots are returned, they will be checked against the updated list of registered voters, and any ballots received from individuals under the age of 18 will be disregarded, unopened, and not counted.
