2. Coaches Code of Conduct

    As a volunteer coach for Pueblo West Parks and Recreation, I will provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my youth sports team by following this “Coaches Code of Conduct”

   • I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth not adults.
   • I will learn and adhere to the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
   • I will be a positive role model for my team and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support to all coaches, players, officials, and spectators at every game, including practice and sporting events.
   • I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, Pueblo West Parks and Rec Staff, player, coaches, or parents such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, incitement to riot, or using profane language or gestures. 
   • I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well-being of the athletes. 
   • I will teach my players to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility, bullying, or violence. 
   • I will demand that my team treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
   • I will teach my team that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my team will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
   • I will praise my team for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my team feel like a winner every time.
   • I will never ridicule or yell at my team or other participants for making a mistake.
   • I will demand a sports environment for my child and team that is free of drugs and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events. 
   • I will respect the officials and their authority before, during, and after games.

    

   I have read and understand that I and my child will be removed without warning from the league for any violation of the Coaches Code of Conduct.
