Indoor Spring Soccer
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation offers indoor soccer for youths ages 5-8 yrs. during the Fall & Spring seasons.
The leagues are recreational and are not competitive in nature.
PROGRAM DATES - SATURDAYS
February 13 to March 20, 2010
Youth Indoor Soccer for boys & girls ages 5 & 6 yrs. and 7 & 8 yrs., is a CO-ED recreational program like our other sports but due to playing indoors, will only register 42 in each age group. Children will learn developmental skills, sportsmanship, team participation and have lots of fun.
PRACTICES: Practices are the first 20 minutes with games then 40 minutes.
GAMES: Played at a Pueblo West School on Saturdays for one hour between 8am and 12:00 noon.
COST: $20.00 per child. There is a $25 fee on any returned check and there are NO REFUNDS AFTER PROGRAM START DATE.
COACHES MEET: February 3 from 6-8pm at the Parks and Rec office.
REGISTRATION: Mail or drop forms off with fee attached in mail slot at the Parks Office before January 29.

YOUTH INDOOR SOCCER MODIFIED RECREATION RULES
FIELD PLAY
We will be using the schools gym floor which is approximately 60 yards x 40 yards.
THE BALL
We will be using a size 3 futsal ball which is typically used for indoor soccer.
NUMBER OF FIELD PLAYERS
A team shall consist of a maximum of 8 players for 5 & 6 yr olds and 7 & 8 yr olds.
*Remember of the maximum players, 1 must be the goalie.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions are unlimited and may be made at any time during the game. Remember ball must be put in play 5 seconds after ball is set.
PLAYERS EQUIPMENT
Shin guards must be worn by all players. SHOES only flat turf shoes no cleats.
DURATION OF THE GAME
Game will consist of two 15 minute halves with a 5 minute halftime break. The first 20 minutes of the hour will be a practice.
BALL IN AND OUT OF PLAY
a. The ball is in play if ball stays inside the line markings (just like outdoors).
b. If ball goes out of play, a throw-in is awarded.
c. If the ball goes beyond the goal-line, a goal kick or corner kick will be awarded.
d. All free kicks, corner kicks, kick ins are direct.
e. No goal can be scored off a kick-off or goal kick.
f. The defensive wall must be 15 feet from the ball.
OFFSIDES
Will not be enforced
GOALKEEPERS
a. The goal keeper must put the ball in play within 5 seconds of possession of the ball.
b. Punting is not allowed. Drop kick is allowed.
c. Goal box no one on opposing team is allowed in the box.
GOALKEEPER PRIVILEGES
The goalkeeper may catch, throw, kick, or bounce the ball within the designated goal area.
*once the goalie has control of the ball, all players should be instructed to clear the goal area.
SOCCER TERMS
KICK OFF A kick off is taken at the start of each playing half and after a goal has been scored (by the team who didn't score).
BALL IN PLAY The action is continuous until a goal is scored, an infraction (foul) occurs, or if the ball goes out of bounds.
CORNER KICK is taken when the defense last touches the ball and it goes out of bounds on the goal boundaries.
PENALTY KICK is awarded for infractions occurring in the penalty area.
DIRECT FREE KICK is awarded from the point of an infraction.
GOAL KICK is awarded to the defense if the offense last touches the ball when it went out of bounds on the goal boundaries.
TYPES OF FOULS
Each coach should take time to teach a "play the ball" style of soccer that will detour such fouls as tripping, tackling, high kicking, pushing and holding.
*result of any such foul will be a free kick from the point of infraction. (intentional hand ball included.)
TIME KEEPER
The league director will keep track of time and let the coaches know when to begin a game, take a break for halftime, at the end of each game.
REFEREES
Each team will provide one (1) official per game.
*due to some modified procedures and rules with the Metro District's Recreational Programs, participants, coaches and bystanders must accept the
referee's judgment as FINAL. REMEMBER, you may be out there someday.
SPORTSMANSHIP
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Dept. supports a high level of sportsmanship by team members, parents, and all participants. Anyone who doesnt comply with the rules will be asked not to participate.
PROGRAM PURPOSE
This program is designed to provide youth with the opportunity to participate in an organized Sports program that will emphasize basic skills, sportsmanship, enjoyment, and cooperative Participation with peers. NO SCORES ARE TO BE KEPT!
CONDUCT
It shall be the responsibility of all spectators, parents, and participants to conduct themselves in a proper and sportsmanlike manner. Any individual who, in the opinion of the coach, is conducting him/herself in an improper manner shall receive a warning to stop such conduct. Should the individual not comply, the Parks and Rec. Director will be notified and the situation will be taken care of.
LIABILITY
Parents should be aware that there is some risk involved in activities of this nature, and that ALL participants do so at their own risk.
PRACTICES/GAMES
Practices are every Saturday the first 20 minutes of the time parent & children arrive. The next 40 minutes will be a game situation. Every week a different skill will be taught.
TRANSPORTATION
All participants are responsible for their own transportation. Make sure your child is picked up on time.
